10 Questions for Alicia Kronig of UHC Visper Lions

Lugaia is passionate about local youth development, which is why it supports selected athletes such as Alicia Kronig (plays for the UHC Visper Lions) and shares her inspiring story. In the following interview, Alicia gives us an insight into her sporting journey, her everyday life and her goals.

1. When and how did you start playing floorball?

I started playing floorball in 2012. First on the small pitch in Turtmann and when the big pitch women's team was founded in Visp, I was there straight away.

2. What has been the biggest success of your career so far and why?

As a junior, the U21A Swiss Championship title. Back then I played with Unihockey Berner Oberland and after a hard-fought season, this title was a very nice reward. And, of course, promotion to the NLB with the Visper Lions. Playing in a team right from the start and seeing how far we've come with a lot of hard work makes me incredibly proud. Playing in the second-highest league in Switzerland is fantastic.

3. How do you prepare yourself mentally and physically for important games?

Before a home game, I like to go for a walk, listen to music, let my thoughts run free and visualize previous successes to get a good feeling. For away games, I do this in the car. I also always eat a good portion of pasta a certain amount of time before the game.

4. How would you describe the team dynamic at UHC Visper Lions?

We are a very diverse team. Be it in terms of age or skills. Everyone brings something different to the table and ensures the right action at the right moment in their own way.

5. What makes training and playing for the UHC Visper Lions special for you?

Our team is like a small family. Many of us have been with the team since the beginning. We have grown together and know each other better than some other teams internally. I'm all the more pleased that the coach and the team have the necessary trust in me and allow me to act as captain of the team.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years' time, both athletically and personally?

I'd say I'll still be very active in sport, with or without floorball. Depending on the development of the team and my life story, I don't have a clear answer. Personally, I'm currently aiming for a managerial position and the family wish is certainly also in the back of my mind.

7. How important is the support of local sponsors like Lugaia to you?

Local power is always good. Lugaia shows interest in local clubs and in return I can do a bit of advertising for them. I'm very pleased that they are involved in sponsoring.

8. Do you have a favorite ritual before games?

My hair has to be in place ;-) The more comfortable and pretty I feel, the better I play.

9. What do you like to do in your free time?

Apart from floorball, I regularly go to the gym or crossfit. Exercise is always very important to me. But I also like to take things a little easier, like going out to eat, cooking or meeting up with friends for coffee.

10. Is there an inspiring story or experience from your life that you would like to share?

A formative experience for me was the last exercise at NCO school. We were drilled almost non-stop for 48 hours. I learned a lot about myself and my limits during this time. I also realized that almost anything is possible if you want it and are prepared to work hard for it.
