The company was founded in 2006 by Viktor Schnyder, who early on recognized the growing need for safe, flexible and cost-effective solutions for handling highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients. Lugaia specialized in innovative single-use systems within a technologically demanding environment where safety, precision and reliability are critical.

“Our roots are clearly in Valais. From here, we develop solutions that are now used worldwide. We owe this success to our dedicated team, strong partners, and the trust of our customers,” says the management of Lugaia AG.

Alongside the company’s growth, its headquarters in Raron have also been continuously expanded in recent years. What started as a small startup has grown into a company with more than 50 employees. The interdisciplinary team brings together extensive expertise in engineering, production, project management, logistics and sales.

As it celebrates its 20th anniversary, Lugaia reflects on numerous technological milestones while deliberately focusing on the future. Key priorities for the coming years include the further development of sustainable containment solutions, the expansion of partnerships and the long-term strengthening of the company’s location in Valais.

The anniversary will be celebrated in 2026 under the motto “20 Years of Innovation” through a variety of activities together with employees, partners and customers. Even after 20 years, Lugaia remains committed to the belief that innovation emerges where experience, close ties to real-world practice and a strong team come together.
