Ventilation Technology for Flexible Isolator Systems

Controlled Airflow for Safe Containment Processes

Reliable airflow and stable pressure conditions are essential for safe containment processes. Lugaia’s mobile ventilation units have been specifically developed for use with flexible isolator systems and ensure controlled airflow within the isolator.

Depending on the process requirements, two different versions are available: the Eco Ventilation Unit and the Premium Ventilation Unit, ranging from an economical solution for reliable pressure control to comprehensive ventilation technology for demanding containment applications.

Mobile Ventilation Technology for Flexible Isolators

The ventilation units ensure defined pressure conditions and controlled airflow within the flexible isolator. Thanks to their compact, mobile design, they can be flexibly integrated into a variety of process environments.

Depending on the selected model, features such as negative and positive pressure operation, differential pressure monitoring, alarm functions, as well as inerting and additional monitoring options are available.

Your Benefits

  • Controlled airflow in the flexible isolator
  • Stable pressure conditions
  • Compact and mobile design
  • Low noise level
  • Easy operation via touchscreen
  • GMP-compliant design
  • Robust stainless steel housing
  • Continuous pressure monitoring
  • Visual and audible alarm functions
  • Leak monitoring

Eco Ventilation Unit

Cost-Effective Pressure Maintenance for Isolators

The Eco Ventilation Unit offers a cost-effective and functional solution for applications requiring reliable pressure maintenance with minimal technical effort.

The ventilation unit generates a defined negative pressure inside the isolator. Operation with positive pressure is also available as an option. A fan extracts air from the isolator through the exhaust air filter and returns it to the isolator via the supply air filters.

The Eco ventilation unit is therefore particularly well-suited for applications where reliable and straightforward pressure maintenance is a priority.

Features & Options

The system offers constant negative pressure operation and easy operation via a touchscreen display. Differential pressure monitoring and alarm functions are available as options. Integrated safety features include continuous pressure monitoring, visual and audible alarms, an emergency shut-off function, and leak detection. IQ/OQ documentation is also available.

Premium Ventilation Unit

Precise Airflow for Maximum Process Reliability

The Premium Ventilation Unit was specially developed for use in flexible isolators in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences industries. It ensures controlled airflow and stable pressure conditions within the isolator, thereby helping to protect the product, the operator, and the environment.

The Premium model is particularly suitable for demanding containment applications such as sampling, weighing, filling, powder handling, as well as maintenance and decontamination processes.

Advanced process control

In addition to negative pressure, the Premium ventilation unit can also be operated at positive pressure. An inerting mode with oxygen measurement is also available.

For process monitoring, the system offers differential pressure monitoring and alarm functions, as well as optional temperature and humidity monitoring.

For demanding applications, an ATEX version for Zone 2/22 is also available. IQ/OQ documentation and design in accordance with the CE Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 round out the compliance and safety features.

Eco or Premium? The right solution for your process

The choice of appropriate ventilation technology depends on the requirements of the respective containment process.

The Eco ventilation unit is designed for reliable pressure maintenance with reduced technical effort, thus offering a cost-effective solution for less complex applications.

The Premium ventilation unit also offers advanced process control capabilities, including negative and positive pressure operation, inerting, more comprehensive monitoring, and an optional ATEX-certified version. This makes it particularly suitable for more demanding containment processes.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

In case you missed something

Can flexible isolators be operated under negative and positive pressure?

Yes. With the Premium ventilation unit, flexible isolators can be operated in both negative and positive pressure modes. The Eco ventilation unit is designed by default for a specific negative pressure; operation in positive pressure mode is available as an option. The appropriate operating mode depends on the requirements of the respective containment process.

For which containment applications is the Premium ventilation unit suitable?

The Premium ventilation unit was developed for demanding containment applications in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences industries. Typical applications include sampling, weighing, filling, powder handling, and maintenance and decontamination processes. The system ensures controlled airflow and stable pressure conditions within the flexible isolator.

How do I find the right ventilation system for my flexible isolator?

The choice of the appropriate ventilation system depends on the requirements of the specific containment process. For applications that prioritize reliable pressure maintenance and reduced technical complexity, the Eco ventilation unit is the ideal choice. If functions such as inerting, advanced monitoring, negative and positive pressure operation, or an ATEX-certified version are required, the Premium ventilation unit is the more comprehensive solution. Lugaia supports you in selecting and designing the appropriate ventilation technology for your flexible isolator system.

How will I be alerted if the limit values for the pressure and / or the oxygen content inside the isolator are exceeded?

There is an acoustic and visual alarm. Then there is an automatic self-regulation of the ventilation unit.

Is it possible to inert the flexible insulator?

Yes. The Premium ventilation unit features an inerting mode with oxygen measurement. This provides a function for applications that require controlled inerting. The Eco ventilation unit does not include an inerting function.

Is Lugaia ventilation technology suitable for ATEX zones?

The Premium ventilation unit is optionally available in an ATEX version for Zone 2/22. This allows it to be used even in demanding containment applications. No ATEX version is specified for the Eco ventilation unit.

What is a ventilation unit used for in a flexible isolator?

A ventilation unit ensures controlled airflow and stable pressure conditions within a flexible isolator. Depending on the model, the ventilation system allows for operation under negative or positive pressure, thereby supporting a controlled containment process. Lugaia’s mobile ventilation units were developed specifically for use with flexible isolator systems.

What is the difference between Lugaia's Eco and Premium ventilation units?

The Eco Ventilation Unit is a cost-effective solution for applications where reliable pressure maintenance with minimal technical effort is a priority. The Premium ventilation unit offers additional features for more demanding containment processes, including negative and positive pressure operation, inerting with oxygen measurement, expanded monitoring, and an optional ATEX-certified version for Zone 2/22.
